BRANDS ON THE BARK SIDE
The brands available on The Bark Side® represent authenticity, quality, and wherever possible, eco credentials. I personally test everything before I confirm to my people that a product is suitable for The Bark Side, and I'm pleased to confirm that these have made the grade. So without further ado, let me introduce our fabulous brands:
The brand that needs no introduction! If you haven’t heard of Kong, where have you been?! It’s a brand that represents quality, authenticity and fun for all sizes and ages of dogs and puppies. We try to stock the less-common of their ranges, to give you something a little different to the usual offerings. Have a look and see what you think. I hope you’ll like what we’ve chosen.
These guys do high quality dog collars and leads made from recycled plastic. Anything that keeps plastic bottles out of the ocean must be a good thing, and these products are no exception. Simple and understated designs with a social conscience – brilliant! Lupine collars have a lifetime guarantee and will be replaced for free, even if chewed!
West Paw is a seriously cool and quality brand! They make all their products themselves in Montana, USA (so they know exactly what goes into them and have control over ingredients and quality), and their mission is “to create the best pet products possible”. Using eco-friendly materials and processes wherever possible, they are keeping waste out of landfill, chemicals out of soil and water, and toxins out of their products. Non-toxic dog toys: winner.
Their products are incredibly durable. Tough or aggressive chewers? No problem. West Paw designed and created its own recycled and recyclable plastic product: Zogoflex® - it can be recycled over and over again to create more toys. Awesome! And Zogoflex® is seriously tough; if you’re a dog who usually destroys toys, you’ll have your work cut out for you with these!
West Paw guarantees every product. If you’re not happy with the performance of a West Paw product, then you’re entitled to a one-time refund or replacement. How good is that? If you bought a product you thought was indestructible, but you managed to gnaw through it anyway, then The Bark Side will offer you an even more durable dog toy (unless you’ve chewed through the strongest West Paw toy, in which case you’ll have the choice of a refund or replacement). Can’t say fairer than that.
These guys rock! Apart from the word “eco” appearing in their name, they also create fun, robust products from sustainable sources. Some of their toys are made from upcycled plastic bottles, which means that those bottles won’t end up in the ocean. Let’s face it, when plastic is made, it’s on the planet for good, so it makes sense to reuse it. Have a look at their range of stuffing-free toys in the shop.
Other products are made from sustainable sources, for example the Beco Bowls that are made from bamboo, which grows and re-grows super-quickly. Not only do these bowls look good and last for ages, but they also naturally degrade when it’s time to dispose of them. The same sustainability ethos extends to the Beco Bone and Ball on a Rope, which are made from rice husk, a waste product that would otherwise end up in landfill.
Then there are the collapsible travel bowls, so you can eat and drink on the go, just like your people do. These are made of BPA-free silicone, which is non-toxic and fully recyclable.
Ok, so first of all, these are dog toys and puppy toys, not collars. I've done the testing (it's all work, work, work) and have awarded the Approved by Brutus stamp to the PitchDog Sportball by Collar Company. This is a dog toy like no other; it's the shape of a rugby ball or American football, and it has an unpredictable bounce which is loads of fun.
I'm a chewer; I don't "fetch". You'll get the toy when I want to take it to you, either to tease you with, or for you to throw it for me. This toy is great when it bounces (when I let my people throw it) and it would be awesome for those dogs who do actually fetch. As I said I love to chew dog toys; I'll run away with it to a corner of the garden, whilst I gnaw away at it. It's fair to say that the PitchDog Sportball is susceptible to teeth marks when I've been chewing it, but they almost seem to "heal" over time. I didn't manage to chew any bits off it though, and that's really important, because my people want to avoid a choking risk. So give this a go - I reckon you'll like it as much as I do!
Rogz is a seriously cool and funky brand of dog and puppy collars and leads. It’s like they’ve created their range of collars and leads for beach holidays and the surfing lifestyle. If the movie ‘Point Break’ were ever remade with a cast of dogs, I’m absolutely certain they’d all be wearing Rogz gear. Fantastic designs, quality materials, what’s not to love? Rogz for dogz – just too cool!
